Nicholas Brooks’ Comedy ‘Sam’ Scheduled for October Release (EXCLUSIVE)

Vision Films has set an Oct. 11 release for romantic comedy “Sam,” the debut directing movie for Nicholas Brooks with his father Mel Brooks executive producing, Variety has learned exclusively.

“Sam” will be available on DVD & VOD with special theatrical events in New York and Los Angeles.

Sibyl Santiago produced “Sam” with a screenplay by Nicholas Brooks and John A. Gallagher. The story follows a New York City alpha male — portrayed by Brock Harris — who is suddenly transformed into a beautiful woman, played Natalie Knepp (“Orange is the New Black”).

Sean Kleier (“Odd Mom Out”), Stacy Keach, Morgan Fairchild, Bryan Batt, James McCaffrey and Sarah Scott also star.

Nicholas Brooks has worked for 25 years as a story editor for his father’s production company Brooksfilms. “Sam” is his sixth screenplay.

“Working with my dad on my first feature has been a fantastic experience – he is a continuously supportive, caring and wonderful executive producer,” he said.
