Foo Fighters fans launch crowdfunding campaign to bring the band to the UK

Fans of the rock band Foo Fighters have teamed up to launch a crowdfunding campaign to get the group to play in the city of Birmingham, UK.

"Foo for the fans - no more touts" is a Kickstarter campaign aiming to cut out the middle men of the gig business and let fans appeal directly to artists when it comes to concert venues.

The not-for-profit campaign is hoping to get the Foo Fighters to Birmingham for a fan-funded UK gig in 2015 following the release of the group's new album, "Sonic Highways."

The online response has been enthusiastic -- the campaign launched on September 19 and had nearly hit its £150,000 target on the 25th.

"Are you sick of losing out on those golden tickets?" asks the campaign's Kickstarter page.

"Setting the alarm to find them sold out in 3 minutes?

"By doing this we are putting the power of ticket sales back into the hands of the fans, not the touts."

This isn't the first time the Foo Fighters have been beckoned to a fan-funded stage - the band played in Richmond, Virginia, this month after a successful crowdfunding effort by their listeners.

Fans can secure a ticket for the UK concert by pledging £50 to the cause.
