Elijah Wood headed for witch hunt

The actor has just joined Vin Diesel in the cast of "The Last Witch Hunter," a supernatural thriller to be helmed by Breck Eisner.

Slated to begin lensing next month, the movie will star the "Fast and Furious" actor, who is also a producer on the project, as an immortal witch hunter forced to team with his worst enemy -- a witch -- to prevent a New York coven from unleashing a plague on the world. Details on Elijah Wood's role were not revealed.

Michael Caine ("The Dark Knight Rises") and Rose Leslie, known for playing Ygritte on "Game of Thrones," round out the cast.

"The Last Witch Hunter" is based on an original pitch from Cory Goodman and a screenplay written and revised by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama ("Gods of Egypt") along with D.W. Harper and Melisa Wallack.

No release date has been announced for the feature, which will mark the return of director Breck Eisner. His latest film, a remake of the George Romero horror movie "The Crazies," was released in 2010.
