"Mulan" sequel is in the works?

21 Apr – Rumours are rife that a sequel to the live-action remake of "Mulan" is currently in the works.
As reported on HK01, while the remake itself has yet to be released, industry insider Daniel Richtman stated that the second movie is already in early development, with producers Chris Bender, Jason Reed, and Jake Weiner returning as well.
However, there is no news as to whether director Niki Caro would also be helming the project.
The sequel reportedly will not have a similar storyline as the sequel to the Disney animated feature, which was released straight-to-VHS.
"Mulan", who stars Crystal Liu in the titular role, will be released in North America this 24 July. The new date was determined after the movie had to postpone its March release due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
