This mom’s viral Facebook post is for all the parents who have ever been mommy-shamed
Society has a lot of opinions about the “right” way to be a mom, and it certainly doesn’t help when women feel torn down by peers who have different parenting styles. So, it’s no surprise that one mother’s Facebook post against mom-shaming really resonated and has quickly gone viral. Ashle Potter shared a letter to the Facebook group Love What Matters that praised all the moms out there who are doing the best they can for their kids —and it provided an important reminder that, despite different parenting choices, moms have so much in common and supporting one another is invaluable.
“To the mom who had to feed her kids from the drive thru all week because you’re too worn out to cook or go grocery shopping: You’re feeding your kids, and hey, I bet they aren’t complaining! Sometimes sanity can indeed be found in a white bag with a big red chick on it. You’re a good mom,” Potter wrote.

“To the mom who gave her kids a homecooked breakfast lunch and dinner for the past week: Excellent! Good nutrition is important, and they’re learning to enjoy healthy foods at an early age, a boon for the rest of their lives. You’re a good mom,” she continued.
Potter went on to commend the moms who stay home and the ones who work, those who breastfeed and those who formula feed, and the moms whose kids are on their best behavior and the ones who are dealing with daily meltdowns.
“To the moms who judge other moms for ANY of the above? Glass houses, friend. Glass houses,” Potter concluded.

In just 48 hours, the post has already been shared by over 17,000 people — and moms have added their own messages of support to one another.
Amazing parenting looks and sounds different for every mom — but wouldn’t it be nice if moms didn’t have to worry about the judgement of others? As the response to Potter’s post proves, there are a lot of moms out there who commend and support one another — let’s have more of that attitude.
