Mel Gibson's "What Women Want" gets female twist

Gibson's lead character will be replaced by a woman in the new remake

No Mel Gibson as the lead role for this version of "What Women Want".

15 Nov – Remaking a big movie is quite the norm in Hollywood and Mel Gibson-starrer "What Women Want" is the next in line to receive the same treatment.

Of course, don't expect to see Gibson in the starring role again as this time the lead character will be a woman instead of a man, according to Deadline.

Taraji P. Henson, star of "Hidden Figures" and TV series "Empire", has been tapped to play Gibson's role, which has been given a female twist. Henson will play a female sports agent who gains the power to hear men's thoughts and uses her newly gained power to sign the NBA's next superstar.

The original 2000 rom-com starred Gibson as a confident chauvinistic male, who, upon suddenly getting the ability to hear women's thoughts, tried to use it to his advantage on a woman (Helen Hunt) who was promoted over him.

"What Women Want" is already set for a North American release on 11 January 11 2019.

This will be the second remake of the popular movie, though the first if counting only Hollywood since the first one was a Chinese remake by Chen Daming in 2011 starring Andy Lau and Gong Li.
