A-Mei reminisce about the late Chang Yu-sheng at concert
22 May - A-Mei recently made a rare performance of her 1997 song "Listen To You, Listen To Me" at her concert to commemorate singer and music producer, Chang Yu-sheng (also known as Tom Chang).
As reported on Epoch Times, the singer, who held her Utopia Carnival 2.0 tour in Beijing recently, shared that she would always regard Chang as her first teacher, who had greatly improved her life.
Back in 1996, just when A-Mei lost her passion in music, Chang invited her to perform with him on his single, "The One I Love the Most Hurts Me The Most", attracting the public's attention back to her music career, which eventually blossomed.
On 2 November 1997, after a week of coma following his car accident, Chang passed away at the age of 31.
A-Mei later released the single "Listen to You, Listen to Me" as a memorial to him.
Speaking to the audience about the song, she said, "I rarely sang it at a concert, because there are too many memories in it. I am a bit reluctant to touch it."
On the other hand, the 28th Golden Melody Awards is also honouring the late musician with its Special Contribution Award this year. This year marks the 20th year of his passing.
