As if breakups weren’t hard enough, imagine having to watch your ex fall in love with Prince Charming. No, not just a wonderfully charming man who saves puppies, but an actual prince! Well, unfortunately for this guy, that’s exactly what happened to Meghan Markle’s ex, and he’s now making a TV show about a man whose wife leaves him for, you guessed it, a prince! And while this might be the pettiest post-breakup move in the history of petty post-breakup moves, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited to see this play out on our TV screens.

Markle’s ex-husband is Snowfall producer Trevor Engelson. The two met in 2004 while chasing their dreams of making it big in Hollywood. They dated for seven years before tying the knot in 2011, but the marriage just wasn’t meant to last as the couple divorced just two years later, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Fast forward three years, to 2016, when the Suits actress paid a visit to London for the summer and fell in love with none other than her current beau — Prince Harry.

While talking to Vanity Fair about her newfound love, Markle said recently,

“We’re a couple! We’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us. It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”

According to Deadline, Engelson is making a Fox comedy about being left for a British prince. It’s “fiction,” apparently, but the storyline feels a bit ~familiar.~ The show’s premise reads:

“Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder when an ex-wife marries a British prince. Sharing custody with the British Royal family in the unforgiving spotlight of London’s tabloid media is next level.”

So maybe it isn’t exactly like real-life happenings — we know Markle and Engelson don’t have kids together, and she has no involvement in the project. But it’s still pretty darn close.

Additionally, Engleson is producing alongside Jake Kasdan — one of the brilliant minds that brought us our beloved New Girl. So we know there will be some hilarious and heartfelt moments.

There is no official date for the show’s release yet, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on it. We’ll keep you posted!
