Meg Lam defends Margie Tsang over absence at memorial service

22 Nov – Meg Lam recently defended fellow actress Margie Tsang, over the backlash she received for not attending the memorial service of the late actress Yammie Lam.

As reported on Mingpao, a few days ago, Margie found herself becoming a target of netizens' criticism when she posted a message on social media about the heartbreak she felt over Yammie's death and how much she will miss the actress, with many questioning her absence at the service.

She then responded angrily online, saying that not attending the memorial doesn't mean that she didn't care.

"People who know me will understand. People who don't understand will never understand. Thank you!" she added.

When asked about it recently, Meg stated that people can say anything they want online, and that Margie shouldn't worry too much about it.

"We're not doing everything for show. There are certain bonds of friendship between them," she said.

As to whether she will contact Margie, Meg said that she will not harass other people about it.

Meg also revealed that Yammie's memorial service and subsequent cremation were done in private because that was what the actress' sister wanted.

"She knows that everybody cares about Yammie. She also thanked the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild for wanting to help, but she wanted it to be low-key. So I didn't pester her," she said.
