MediSave top-ups of up to S$1,100 in Jul for about 300,000 Pioneer Generation seniors

If you are a Singaporean aged 75 and above, you won’t have to self-top-up your MediSave account for a while to meet your healthcare needs. This is because you will be receiving MediSave top-ups of up to $1,100 in Jul, said the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on 7 Jun.

The top-ups amount to more than $150 million in total. They will benefit about 300,000 Singaporeans from the Pioneer Generation, said the MOF in a press release.

The Pioneer Generation refers to Singaporeans born in 1949 or earlier.

The top-ups are in addition to the yearly MediSave top-ups for Singaporeans aged 65 and above.

MediSave can be used to pay the premiums for MediShield Life, CareShield Life, ElderShield and other MediSave-approved insurance plans. It can also be used to foot medical expenses such as hospitalisation, day surgery and selected outpatient treatments.

How Will Eligible Seniors Be Informed of Their Medisave Top-Ups?

Eligible seniors who have downloaded and set up their Singpass – the government digital identity app for Singaporeans – will receive notifications via their app on their top-up amount by 11 Jun.

Those without the app but who have registered their mobile numbers with Singpass before 9 Jun will receive an SMS by 11 Jun to inform them of the amount they are eligible for.

The rest of the eligible seniors will receive letters by end-June.
