May New Moon Zodiac 2024April showers bring May flowers... and moons!
This month's lunar cycle will kick off with the new moon on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. It marks the first lunar phase in the lead up to this month's full moon, nicknamed the Flower Moon, on Thursday, May 23.
May's new moon is expected to peak at 8:21 p.m. PT — though, its appearance will blend with the night sky in comparison to the radiant glow of full moons. Despite its blacked-out appearance, the astronomical event boasts extra astronomical significance in the cosmic world!
While this is especially true for full moons, PEOPLE's resident astrologer Kyle Thomas says new moon periods (which occur once every 28.5 days) "always opens a doorway to us depending on where it falls for our Sun sign and in our natal charts."
From a predictive point, Thomas says "we can expect something fresh to present itself." However, he adds that "we must always seize the day to harness the cosmic potential to take action and build our lives as well."
May's new moon will occur in Taurus (18 degrees), therefore, Thomas predicts this lunation will draw attention to the aspects this zodiac sign rules: "wealth, income, material possessions and the physical world."
Certain astrological aspects, like the moon's "perfect alignment" with Saturn (the planet of strength), can bring "stability and security" to our lives long-term. Thomas notes other planets will be in a "rare dance of harmony" that can lead to "fulfillment" in the future if plans are "initiated now."

Aries (March 21-April 19)
A door is opening in your financial life, Aries! Thomas predicts "a new path may open" in regards to your income, assets or investments. "A raise, new job or lucrative client may appear as if out of thin air," he puts forth.
If a source of income "shifts or ends at this time," Thomas assures it’s "pushing you to uncover new ways of monetization." He adds, "Know your worth and fight for it because wealth could soon be yours!"
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
It’s time to embrace new horizons and soar in new directions, Taurus! "Now is a time to focus on what makes you happiest and set forth to assert yourself," says Thomas. "Step into your power and know that you have the ability to turn all of your dreams and hopes into a reality."
Embark on this new adventure with confidence. "Don't settle for anything that makes you feel unhappy," he says.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
It's time to take a step back and recharge, Gemini. This lunation will allow you the necessary steps to "improve your overall health," says Thomas.
Feeling tired or stressed? Thomas says you may now find a way to "put that in the past" around this new moon period. He suggests "reflecting on your past" and "brainstorming ways" to release the fatigued energy that's been weighing you down.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
As the new moon dances in the sky, you are set to see some of your most heartfelt hopes, dreams and ambitions come true, Cancer! On one hand, this could be all about reaching a whole new level of joy and fulfillment.
However, this same lunation will energize your social circle and you may now cross paths with a platonic soulmate — someone who enters your life and changes your path. Don’t be afraid to network, socialize and share your spirit with those who value you.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)
Prepare to soar to new heights in your career, Leo! Thomas predicts the new moon "will open a doorway to achievement, public recognition and success" in your professional life. This may come through "an award, promotion or favorable press."
In contrast, however, Thomas says this lunation period could also serve as a wake-up call. You might realize that your current professional lane "isn’t quite fulfilling you as it once did;" therefore, prompting you to"embark on a new path."
If that's the case, Thomas suggests you "start to move in that newfound direction."

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
Get ready to adventure, Virgo! As the new moon energizes your sector of expansion, Thomas says "you may feel the sudden urge to leave your comfort zone and soar toward new horizons."
Some Virgos may have the chance to "physically travel" or "embark on a new journey to explore new cultures or spiritualities," he adds. "Relocation and immigration are also possible for some Virgos near this time."
Elsewhere in his prediction, Thomas says some Virgos may realize it’s time to "head back to school and further their education." If you're involved in the media or wish to be at some point in your life, he predicts "a breakthrough around television, publishing or publicity could present itself."
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
It's time to open up, Libra. Thomas says you'll be "focused on where you stand with a significant other" as this new moon "highlights your sector of intimacy." If you've been feeling called to share something with your partner, he notes "now is a good moment to do so."
Relationships aside, Thomas shares how this lunation may instead place a focus on "financial matters." He says this could be in the form of "a payout, settlement or investment that is finally ready to arrive."
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Partnerships may take a turn, Scorpio! As the new moon represents a fresh start, Thomas predicts that "you could be making a long-term commitment personally or professionally."
Balance may be found in relationships, he says, prompting some Scorpios to "move in, get engaged or marry." If you happen to break up, he assures "it’s because you’re meant for someone even better."
If you're not in a relationship, don't worry! Thomas says "singles can enjoy the vibe" of this lunation too if they "put themselves out there to find someone with long-term potential."

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)
The breakthrough in your work-life balance may now be here, Sagittarius! Thomas predicts this new moon "could bring you a leg up in your job, attract a new employer or cause you to work on a new milestone project."
However, Thomas notes "this same energy" could also "turn your attention" to health, fitness and diet, too. If you'd like to make a change, he says "the stars are on your side!" Get productive!
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
Prepare for a fresh start, Capricorn, one that Thomas says is bringing "golden showers of romance, creativity, passion and fertility into your life." As you begin a new journey around matters of the heart, he says May's new moon "could help you to feel quite euphoric" at this time.
Single Capricorns "could meet a soulmate," Thomas puts forth, while those casually dating may "suddenly realize they’ve fallen madly in love." Committed couples "can enjoy this joyous vibe, too."
Elsewhere in his prediction, Thomas says artists should "prepare to embrace the magical inspiration of the muse!"
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
There's no place like home, Aquarius! Thomas predicts "a new beginning" around family, home or domestic situations is possible around this lunation, one that "could be the push in the direction" you’ve desired for a long time.
Perhaps it's attending a family event where you're "able to reconnect and grow closer with your kindred" or cause a "breakthrough around relocation, renovation or real estate." Thomas advises you "keep your eye on the prize!"
