Maxine Medina will not say no to an interpreter
20 Jan - Miss Universe-Philippines Maxine Medina admitted that she will use the help of an interpreter if deemed necessary, in case she makes it to the Top 5 of the Miss Universe pageant.
As reported on SunStar, the 26-year-old beauty queen, who has been criticised for her poor command of the English language, stated that she will not hesitate to seek help if it will help her chances to win the crown.
"Tagalog is a beautiful language. There's this one time Pia [Wurtzbach] and I were talking and all the candidates were like, "Oh, it's nice to hear you talking in Tagalog". So there is nothing wrong about getting someone to translate for you. I am also here to win," she said.
Previously, Gloria Diaz, the first ever Miss Universe from the Philippines, shared the same thought about Medina using an interpreter for her Q&A segment.
She stated, "She is a Filipina and I don't think it will make her less of a beauty queen if she will decide to use our language on the Grand Coronation."
