Mary Jean Reimer has no plans to return to HK for now

31 Mar – Former Hong Kong actress Mary Jean Reimer (Yung Jing Jing) has no plans to return to Hong Kong for now, despite the fact that the pandemic has been getting more severe in the United Kingdom.

The actress, who spoke to Mingpao via telephone interview, stated that she is unsure of the risks of making the journey back to Hong Kong from the UK, where she and husband Sean Mclean are currently residing, and would rather stay where she is for the time being.

When mentioned that the Crown Prince Charles himself was diagnosed with COVID-19, Mary stated that she is not worried as long as there are enough medical resources to deal with it.

"I am only worried that there are people with relatively mild symptoms or seeking treatments for other diseases overloading the medical system," she added.

Mary also assured that she will make sure to go out to the streets as little as possible to prevent from getting infected herself.

As for the hatred for Asians in Britain, she admitted that it has been much more intense recently due to the pandemic.

"Most of the locals understand things, but there is bound to be unreasonable people around. Their lives are affected by the pandemic, and some families even lost their loved ones. It is understandable for people to be angry," she added.
