Mary Jean Reimer is making more money for lawsuit

29 May - Hong Kong model Jeanne Lau recently admitted that financial difficulties is part of the reason why her mother, former actress Mary Jean Reimer is back to being a lawyer.

As reported on Mingpao, the model who appeared at a cosmetic brand event recently shared, "It's partly an economic issue, but at the same time, she wants to contribute to the community by helping the people in need."

Jeanne said that she will also make more money to contribute to Mary Jean's fight in her lawsuit against several directors of a monastery.

She also revealed that her sister will only be holding a simple wedding in order not to waste more money.

Mary Jean, who retired from practicing law back in 2014 after developing hypothyroidism from the physical and emotional stress from being a solicitor, recently announced that she will make her return as a lawyer in July, in order to make more money for her lawsuit.

The case in question involves a Buddhist nun, who was accused of embezzling money from Ting Wai Monastery in Tai Po - where Reimer was appointed one of its directors.

Reimer had since filed a civil claim against the nun and two other directors for allegedly misappropriating donations from the monastery, an amount that was said to be nearly HKD 10 million.
