Mariel de Leon admits being bashed for "Ang Panday" role

The beauty queen says that she has disabled the comments section of her Instagram account

19 Jul - Beauty queen Mariel de Leon recently admitted that not everybody is happy with her casting as the leading lady in the upcoming comic superhero movie, "Ang Panday".

As reported on Push, the Miss International Philippines who spoke to the media recently, confessed to have disabled the comments section on her social media account, after the backlash following Coco Martin's decision to give her an important role in his movie.

However, de Leon stated that she understands the frustration.

"I get it. I have no experience in showbiz, in movies and television, so they were not really expecting anyone else. Out of a lot of actresses, I was the only one. It was really an honour and a blessing," she said.

Meanwhile, actress Yassi Pressman also defended de Leon, saying that the audience should really give her the chance to prove herself.
