M. Nasir receives honorary doctorate from UPSI

25 Nov - Dato' M. Nasir was recently awarded the Honorary Doctorate in Performance by the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).

The honour was conferred to him at UPSI's 26th Convocation Ceremony in Tanjung Malim, Perak on 23 November, with the Raja Permaisuri of Perak and UPSI Chancellor, Tuanku Zara Salim presenting it to the music maestro.

"This is a great honour for me and UPSI is among those that closely follow the development of my arts. This honour also reflects UPSI's appreciation for my contribution and one of the few that support and elevate the artistic industry to the highest level," said M. Nasir at the ceremony.

The "Kias Fansuri" singer also said that he will continue with his music as usual, and that he plans to produce a movie in the near future.

It is noted that his company Luncai Emas has been the university's strategic partner since 2016, with students from the university having the opportunity to serve their internships at his company, while Nasir himself serves as a consultant and advisor for the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts since 2021.

Aside from Nasir, Datuk Nash, the vocalist of Lefthanded also received a Master's Degree in Performance Studies.
