The local YouTube channel that was behind a parody movie trailer on Yishun which went viral has released a five-episode action-comedy web series about a merger between two fictional schools.

Titled “The Rule Breakers”, the web series by JUO Productions was made in collaboration with media production company mm2 Entertainment. It is “Singapore’s first action-comedy web series”, JUO Productions said in a press release on Thursday (7 Sept), and “aims to be a bold and innovative take on high school dramas”.

The web series is a continuation of JUO Production’s short films on YouTube, “The Rule Breakers: Class Fight” and its sequel “The Rule Breakers 2: The Streets”. Both videos garnered over 2.5 million views on YouTube and Facebook after their 2014 release, according to JUO Productions.

“The Rule Breakers” follows the adventures of Crimson Boys’ High School students Jaze and James, who have gained a reputation as unbeatable fighters.

After a merger between Crimson Boys’ and Lavender Junior Girls’ School, things quickly descend into chaos and anarchy. Jaze and James are blackmailed by their manipulative principal, Mr Kong, into using their fighting skills to help control their rowdy schoolmates. They are also forced to collaborate with Grace, an equally formidable fighter from the girls’ school.

The first episode was published on 31 August 2017. It has gotten about 115,000 views on both Facebook and YouTube. Episodes will be released fortnightly on Thursdays on JUO Productions’ YouTube channel and Facebook page. Episode 2 of the series will be out on 14 September 2017.
