Lam Suet admits challenge filming "Dynasty Warriors"
21 Apr – Although he had to wear a full armour in the heat while filming "Dynasty Warriors" in New Zealand, Hong Kong actor Lam Suet joked that he did not feel any difficulties at all - thanks to "the concubines".
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who plays the role of the fat tyrant Dong Zhuo in the said movie, laughed when asked about the challenges in filming the movie, saying, "My character gets to be surrounded by these concubines who feed him grapes. During the shoot they would feed me rotten grapes, so I would make them eat the grapes too."
"They didn't dare to feed me rotten ones afterwards," he joked.
He later admitted that filming the movie was one of the most challenging things he had ever done throughout his career.
It is noted that Lam, known for his many gangster roles, was the first and only choice for the role of Dong Zhuo when director Chow Hin Yeung was writing the script.
When asked about the rumour that he rode a horse to death, Lam clarified that the horse died of heat stroke and that he was saddened by its death.
"The horse wasn't the only one that suffered from heat stroke. The director also experienced it twice. I was lucky not to experience it, but it was tough," he said.
In the hack and slash action video game of the same name, Dong Zhuo is an imperial general who took advantage of the turmoil of the Yellow Turban Rebellion by deposing the Emperor and supporting a young heir. He then becomes the Prime Minister and a tyrant, causing much sufferings to the people.
Co-starring Louis Koo, Carina Lau, Philip Keung, and Ray Lui, "Dynasty Warriors" is set to be released on 29 April.
