Kyrie Irving Looks to the Stars for This Colorful Iteration of His Anta Signature Sneaker
Kyrie Irving and Anta are looking at his birthday through an astral lens for the next edition of his newest signature sneaker.
The Anta Kai 2 “Solar Return” will release next week on Irving’s birthday with a fittingly heady backstory for its colorful appearance. Multi-color embroidery peppers the black nylon upper with more detailing than the previous two colorways that have released, including representations of light waves and light particles. Even the two-tone outsole is embedded with particles of color for a look similar to flecked wool.

Taken together, the array of hues is intended to mimic daylight as a symbol of enlightenment and personal growth. The messaging for the sneaker also calls out the return of the sun to its exact prior position on the occasion of a birthday and the opportunity for reflection it presents.
Irving’s second signature sneaker made its debut in February with an “Artist on the Court” treatment echoing the introduction of his Anta line a year prior. A “Muse” edition quickly followed, and “Solar Return” now marks the third iteration of the second flagship model.
Just 13 months into its lifespan, Irving’s partnership with Anta has already been quite prolific. The Anta Kai 1 has given way to two spinoffs in the lighter Kai 1 Speed and more affordable Kai 1 Team. They’ve also catered to the lifestyle space with the skate-inspired Hélà model.
The Anta Kai 2 “Solar Return” will release Sunday, March 23, through Anta’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $125.
