Kim Chiu collaborates with PISTON to help jeepney drivers
25 Jun – It looks like Kim Chiu hasn't stopped doing charity work since the pandemic started, as she was recently spotted distributing food to jeepney drivers.
As reported on Pika News, the news of the actress' charity efforts was shared by the transport group PISTON (short for Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide), who revealed on social media that the actress has been collaborating with them in distributing relief to jeepney drivers who were robbed off their main source of livelihood due to the pandemic and the community quarantine.
On a 23 June Twitter post, PISTON shared several photos from their said relief effort, including some of Chiu distributing bags of goods in her BAWAL LUMABAS tee, and wrote, "KIM CHIU is looking out for our jeepney drivers! PISTON and its team are currently providing relief goods to Monument-Baclaran-Avenida drivers."
They also tweeted several other photos, and expressed, "The drivers are again grateful to Miss Kim Chiu for her unwavering support."
Chiu made no mention of her said charity work on her own social media platform.
It is noted that the Philippine government banned jeepneys from continuing to operate when it imposed its quarantine and lockdown a few months ago, causing some of these drivers to turn to the streets to beg for money instead.
