Kent Cheng won't think too much about ratings of new drama

24 Jan – Kent Cheng recently stated that he felt no pressure about getting a good rating for his new drama, "I Bet Your Pardon", which is also another collaboration between him and director-producer Wong Jing since "Chasing the Dragon".

As reported on Mingpao, the veteran actor, whose last drama was the 2016's "My Dangerous Mafia Retirement Plan", shared that the viewership rating is something that he cannot control, and will only depend on the audience's reception.

"You can't estimate the audience's taste. Having big names in the drama doesn't necessarily means people will like it. So I will just wait for the show to come out and see if they like it or not," he said.

Aside from Kent, the drama also co-stars award-winning actors Paul Chun and Elaine Jin.

"I rarely work with them, but this time, Paul plays my brother, while Elaine will play my first love. With Elaine, I have worked with her in "The Sensational Pair", but we didn't end up together," he said.

Asked how he felt about reuniting with the two stars, Kent laughed and said, "Everybody is old now."

He then added that working with great actors made it easy for them to find chemistry. However, at the same time, he also praised the younger generation of stars like James Ng and Babyjohn Choi.

"James is a singer, but he progresses a lot as an actor," he said.

"I Bet Your Pardon" premiered on 14 January.
