Ken Chu admits to suffer from Fibromyalgia
7 Dec – Taiwanese singer-actor Ken Chu recently expressed his frustration with how the media made fun of his weight gain without understanding the actual situation.
As reported on Epoch Times, the actor, who made the news recently for supposedly gaining back his weight after his marriage to actress Han Wenwen, revealed that he actually suffers from Fibromyalgia, a syndrome that affects the muscles and soft tissue and causes its sufferers to have chronic muscle pain, fatigue, and other issues.
Ken said that his disease kicked in due to the cold weather, and that he had to take medication in order to relieve the pain. Although the medication caused his body to swell up, the actor said that he had no other choice but to make a public appearance due to his contractual obligation.
Ken said that although his body aches, the greatest pain actually comes from the media's hurtful words about his weight.
"I feel like crap, like having houseflies surrounding me, and yet I have no legs to run and hide from them. It's very unfair that they criticised me when I gained weight, but said nothing when I lost weight previously," wrote Ken.
On the other hand, according to a medical professional, there is no cure to fibromyalgia at the moment, although the symptoms can be controlled by taking special medication.
