Karrueche Tran Beckons Summer in Dainty Mule Sandals at ‘Monkey Man’ Premiere
Karrueche Tran looked summer-ready on the red carpet in mule sandals at the Los Angeles premiere of “Monkey Man” at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Wednesday in Hollywood, Calif. Her shoes featured a single slim patent leather strap across the toes and approximately 4-inch stiletto heels.
For this pretty summer look, the actor worked with stylist Bryon Javar—he’s styled her before, as well as Megan Thee Stallion, Quinta Brunson, Robin Thede and others. Recently, she’s chosen a variety of stiletto sandals to step out at events. She opted for two different silver stiletto sandals—a simple single strap pair, and the other that wrapped around the ankle—at the launch weekend party for The Riviera Maya Edition at Kanai on Feb. 24 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. At the FanDuel Super Bowl party on Feb. 9, she paired a leather look with neutral sandal stilettos.

“Monkey Man” actors Sobhita Dhulipala, Sharlto Copley, Sikandar Kher and Makrand Deshpande also attended the event. “Monkey Man” was written, directed and produced by Dev Patel, who also stars in the action film. Comedy and horror hero Jordan Peele also produced the movie, which will be released in theaters on April 5.
Karrueche Tran’s Shoe Style
Tran’s style is sultry, head-turning, playful and chameleonic. She often wears stiletto sandals and strappy heels, sometimes in shiny metallic hues, to pair with her bold, often-sparkling looks and elevate her 5-foot-1-inch frame. At the FN Achievement Awards 2023, she switched things up in black satin pointed-toe pumps to present Brandon Blackwood with the FN Launch of the Year award, in a stunning custom black gown from the designer.
Mule Style
Mules are shoes featuring an open back without any type of strap or constraint on the heel. The shoe style is most often thought of in its closed-toe variety, though it can also be an open-toed shoe silhouette featuring a thick strap across the top of the foot. Mules were first popularized in the 17th century as bedroom slippers, later becoming fashionable thanks to wealthy women in the French court. The shoe variety reemerged in the 1950s, with stars like Marilyn Monroe favoring the style — especially the newer open-toe style. Mules recently saw a bump in popularity in the 2010s in all types of fashion. The style can feature a variety of heel heights, with closed-toe mules often featuring flat soles while open-toe varieties often feature high heels.
