Juliana Salazar’s Elegant Asics Sneaker Has All the Makings of an It-Girl Hit
Multi-hyphenate Juliana Salazar starred in an Asics campaign for the Gel-Kayano 14 in 2023, but now her involvement with the sneaker is getting deeper through her own collaboration.
The Juliana Salazar x Asics Gel-Kayano 14 is an understated and elegant take on of Asics’ leading models. And just like Salazar’s campaign for the sneaker two years ago, it’s leaning into the brand’s “Sound Mind, Sound Body” mantra, as the words are printed on the shoe’s insole.

An undersaturated “Eucalyptus” shade forms the majority of the Gel-Kayano 14’s upper, from its mesh base to its suede and synthetic overlays. Metallic silver, still reigning for years in sneakers, is then used for the heel’s stabilizing overlays, as well as the tongue tag. The sole unit makes use of more neutral tones, but a pop of blue comes from the Gel units in the heel.
For the collaboration, Salazar took inspiration from her own personal wardrobe, as well as some of her favorite artworks.
While the Gel-Kayano 14 marks Salazar’s first sneaker collaboration, you’re likely familiar with her work even if you don’t know her name. She’s been credited with helping Ganni take off in the American market, and other brands that have tapped her for vision include Tiffany’s, Nike, Aíme Leon Dore, StockX and Man Repeller.
The Juliana Salazar x Asics Gel-Kayano 14 will release Saturday, February 8, through Asics’ website, as well as select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $160, and sizing will be unisex.
