Joyce Cheng supports having actual awards ceremony

23 Oct – Although she is unsure of the news of whether the annual Hong Kong music awards would be held live in January next year, Joyce Cheng shared that she will be very happy if it happens.

As reported on Mingpao, the singer who served as a guest on the ViuTV music programme, "Chill Club" recently, addressed the subject following rumours of a possible actual awards ceremony next year.

She said, "Attending an actual awards ceremony is very different [than participating in a virtual one]. Although not everybody could win, seeing a large group of friends together makes me very happy and makes the whole thing livelier."

"Yes, the most important thing during this pandemic is everyone's safety, but we all miss the live interaction, seeing and hearing the applause from the audience," she added.

However, Joyce stated that she will respect the organiser's decisions and will wait for her management company to arrange matters.

It is noted that last year's music awards including the Metro Radio Hits Awards and Ultimate Song Chart Awards were held online due to the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic.
