Joyce Cheng remembers Lydia Shum at HK Coliseum concert

23 Apr - Joyce Cheng couldn't help but shed a tear as she expressed regret that her late mother Lydia Shum could not be there to watch her perform at her very first big concert.

As reported on Phoenix, the singer who held her two-day concert, "Break A Leg" on 21 and 22 April, took a short break before the final performance to thank everybody who was involved in the success of her show.

"There are a lot of people who helped me in realising this concert tonight. I should be happy and satisfied, but I still have a big regret, that she couldn't see me at my first concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum" she said, alluding to Lydia.

"But I know she must be here with me. She must have sang together, cried together, and danced together with me throughout the show. So, I would like to perform this last song to my favourite person," she said.

Joyce then proceeded to sing the song, "To the Happiest One", as the audiences - including her father Adam Cheng - joined her in the performance.

This year marks the tenth year of Lydia's passing. The actress and TV personality died on 19 February 2008 following health complications.

Joyce was 20 at the time of her mother's passing.
