5 Oct – Joey Yung couldn't help but feel touched that she was chosen as one of the ten recipients of the 2020 Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong (TOYP Hong Kong).
As reported on Mingpao, the singer who couldn't attend the event itself as she was in Shanghai for work, expressed her gratitude in a video message, saying that she felt encouraged after receiving such an important award and that it had become an important milestone in her career.
"I have been fond of music since I was young, from dreaming to devoting myself in the music business, from performing other people's works to making my own music... to finally hold my 20th anniversary concert last year. In the past 20 years, there were a lot of ups and downs, happiness and sadness. Although I am not as talented [as others], I always believe that I have to work harder to succeed," she said.
Speaking to the media following the news, Joey said that she was saddened by the fact that she was unable to attend the awards ceremony.
"But thinking back about my music journey, it was a bit of a roller coaster. It was exciting and there were many happy moments. It was very touching," she said, adding that she would like to create more music and bring positive energy to everybody.
Joey has released more than 58 records, and received hundreds of awards in her 21 years in music.
