The first day of spring is still a few days away, but for Joanna Gaines, the season is well underway on her Waco, Texas, farm. The expert designer and baker also has a serious green thumb, and she shared exactly what is happening in her spring garden. And while Jo has years of experience growing her favorite plants, she loves to experiment and try something new.

The Fixer Upper star shared her spring gardening plans on her Magnolia blog. This season, you'll find anemones, sweet peas, weeping cherry tree, wild aster, scabiosa, linaria, lavender, boxwood topiaries, and orlaya growing in her yard, which includes an impressive setup of raised beds. But this year, she's trying her hand at growing ranunculus for just the second time.

Joanna shared photos of her efforts on her Instagram account. She wrote, "I want my garden at the farm be a place where I try new things and stretch myself beyond my comfort zone. Ranunculus were my fresh experiment last spring, and they ended up completely winning me over when they were the first to bloom and their petals burst open in layers of pinks and oranges and creams. I loved the reminder that there is reward in risk." Joanna continued to explain that she asked her team at the Silos to plant the flowers too so her guests can enjoy them too.

For Joanna, her garden is a peaceful spot where she can recharge. She wrote, "If I wake up feeling hurried or anxious, the fresh air settles me. If I feel sluggish or unmotivated, the movement of all the life taking place stirs me awake." We can all learn something from that!
