Jia Ling wins lawsuit against coffee manufacturer

16 Aug - Comedienne-turned-director Jia Ling has recently won a lawsuit against a coffee manufacturer over the latter misusing her likeness to sell their product.

As reported on Epoch Times, the actress, who made headlines earlier this year after she deliberately gained 20kg and then shed 50kg during the filming of her movie, "YOLO", sued the manufacturer via her company, Big Bowl Entertainment in April this year.

This is after she discovered that the Anhui brand had misused her portrait without permission, and falsely claimed that she has endorsed their products, by printing Jia Ling's image on the packaging of a coffee product called "Ms. Jia's Black Coffee".

On 14 August, the court's final verdict was delivered and it ordered the manufacturer to stop releasing any products using Jia Ling's portrait. They were also ordered to apologise and to compensate her for economic losses of RMB 100,000.
