Jacquelin Ch'ng does not agree with TVB boycott
12 Jul – TVB actress Jacquelin Ch'ng recently expressed frustration over netizens' boycott campaign against TVB and its artistes.
As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who was asked about the recent cancellation of two of TVB's live events following anti-extradition protesters' call of action, stated that politics is a very esoteric subject.
"Everybody has their own point of view. But you should never be too aggressive and affect other people's livelihood," she said.
At the same time, Jacquelin stated that people may not understand the issue as a whole, and that some are taking action based on situations that have been taken out of context.
"The impact on people's livelihood is secondary. But if such a thing goes on, it will impact the overall economy. So people should be calm and rational. It seems that it has become a habit for people to do something shocking every week. I hope everyone can calm down," she said.
Earlier this week, it was reported that several advertisers have called off their ad campaign with TVB, following news that netizens are calling for boycott against brands that supports the company. The company also cancelled two of its live events in Tuen Mun and Kwun Tong in the wake of the recent turn of events.
The action stemmed from anti-extradition protesters allegations that TVB has been biased in its reporting of the protest.
