Jacky Cheung accepts "Helios" due to "Cold War"
10 Mar – It has been five years since Jacky Cheung's last starring role, in "Crossing Hennessy", and now the Cantopop King is back with a new thriller movie, "Helios".
As reported on Mingpao News, Jacky, who appeared at the promotional event in Beijing recently, revealed that he took the offer to play a role in "Helios" to work with the directors, Sunny Luk and Longman Leung.
Jacky stated, "I really liked [Luk and Leong's] "Cold War" and the way the two directors work. I was also moved by the story. I think it has the best plots and scenes. It's different from other Hong Kong movies."
"The script is great, the cast is great, and the pay is great," he added.
Playing the role of a Physics professor who helps the Counter-Terrorism Response Unit to defuse a crisis led by the Helios criminals (played by Chang Chen and Janice Man), Jacky said that he had studied physics beforehand to prepare himself for the role, and donned a bearded look for the first time.
Co-starring Nick Cheung, Shawn Yue, Wang Xueqin, and South Koreans stars Ji Jin-hee and Choi Si-won, "Helios" is scheduled for release on 28 May in Malaysia.
