Irene Wan wants to make you smile with new song

11 Jun – Releasing her first Cantonese song in 20 years, Irene Wan expressed hope that her song will bring some joy to everybody during the pandemic.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress who promoted her song, "Make You Smile" at a radio station recently, admitted that the people in Hong Kong have had a lot of resentments for the past several years, what with the protests and the subsequent pandemic shutting down the economy.

"But no matter what, everybody must have confidence in our city, to face everything with love and smile, and to continue to have hope for the future. The pandemic will eventually pass and life will return to normal," she said.

Irene also stressed that compared to other countries, Hong Kong is relatively safer and people should always remember that.

Asked if she was affected by the pandemic, Irene revealed that she actually had to postpone a lot of work including live shows and commercials.

"I have lost at least seven digits. Money is not that important, but being quarantined is quite uncomfortable. You have to stay isolated in mainland for 14 days, and then isolate yourself again for another 14 days in Hong Kong. I would rather not do that. I hope that the travel measures will be relaxed as soon as possible," she said.
