Ipoh zi char stall to open new Punggol outlet – perfect for North-East foodies
A juicy piece of news from yet another formidable zi char stall, Ipoh Tuck Kee 怡保德记炒粉, is set to open yet another outlet on 27 Sep 2024 – this time at the new Tam Chiak Kopitiam in Punggol to satisfy your zi char cravings!
For the uninitiated, Ipoh Tuck Kee started off as a zi char eatery in Ipoh. Founded in 1963, Restoran Tuck Kee is famous to this day for their wok-hei-infused dishes – particularly, the Yu Kong Hor (or as we know it, Moonlight Hor Fun) and their KL Hokkien Mee.
Currently, they have 4 outlets up and running, helmed by third-generation owners from the main flagship stall in Malaysia – Clementi, MacPherson, Jalan Besar, and Jurong West. With the opening of their 5th one, located at Northshore Drive, all you fellow foodies in the Northeast region of Singapore won’t have to travel anymore just to get your zi char fix.
While it’s unclear if they will be adding any new dishes to their menu at this new outlet, you can still look forward to classics such as their Wat Tan Hor (Egg Hor Fun), Baby Octopus in Soy Sauce, Prawn Paste Chicken, and Fresh Lala, among others.
So,for all you who have been travelling far and wide across the island just to get your Ipoh zi char fix, stay tuned – they’ll be popping up closer to home before you know it!
