It may be 2022, but in fashion, it feels more like we’ve been transported into an era of old Hollywood glamour where voluptuous silhouettes and romantic designs have come out to play. This sort of awe-inspiring experience is to be expected when Christian Siriano is running the show.

On Wednesday September 7th, Siriano presented his Spring/Summer 2023 collection at The Elizabeth Collective, Elizabeth Taylor’s former townhome, which was symbolically chosen to elevate the theme of the evening. “I looked back at some of the most stylish women from the past— everyone from Audrey Hepburn to Marilyn Monroe, Katherine Hepburn, Bianca Jagger, Ava Gardner, and of course the iconic Elizabeth Taylor, can be found in this collection,” says Siriano.

Greeted with glasses of champagne upon entrance, attendees made their way through the late actress’s residence, and took their seats in sheer anticipation. Notable guests adorning the front row included Alicia Silverstone, Coco Rocha, Maye Musk, and Siriano’s dear friend who needs no introduction, Janet Jackson.

As the show commenced, Siriano’s models gracefully descended the townhome’s spiral staircase, making their way through the showroom and flaunting ensembles of ethereal hues, seamless tailoring, and show-stopping ruffles— all of which were presented in an inclusive range of sizes. And of course, in the name of Hollywood glamour, a confection of chiffon and feathers took center stage too.

Whimsical wide-brimmed hats and opera gloves were also seen on the runway, making Siriano’s accessories equally as striking as the pieces in which they accompanied.

After the show, Siriano along with his close friends and family made their way upstairs for an intimate dinner, prepared by none other than Angie Mar, acclaimed chef and proprietor of Les Trois Chevaux, where the staff wears outfits designed by Siriano himself and reservations are booked far in advance. “I have always admired the artistry that is Christian Siriano, and now having him as a dear friend, it always leaves me more in awe of his designs," says Mar.

Although there wasn't a proper kitchen in Taylor’s former townhome, the brilliant chef didn’t let that stop her—she successfully crafted a glorious three-course dinner involving gem lettuce salad, ballotine of hen in cognac sauce, and creme aux champignons sauvages, paired alongside a delectable selection of Sterling Vineyards wine. "To be able to cook in Elizabeth Taylor's home that she resided in in the 50's is really a dream, especially when we imagined and took inspiration from who she was at that time in her life, and of course what she was eating,” says Mar. "I am thrilled to be able to cook for such a wonderful group, each person iconic in their own right, and having Ms. Jackson at the table is such an honor."

While dinner guests enjoyed Mar's exquisitely prepared meal, Siriano’s sister Shannon made a heartwarming toast, chatter among old friends and new companions filled the room, and most importantly, everyone raised their glass a the designer who never ceases to amaze us all, season after season.
