Idy Chan opens up about breakup with Chow Yun Fat
18 Jun – More than 30 years after they ended their five-year relationship, Hong Kong actress Idy Chan recently opened up about her breakup with Hong Kong superstar Chow Yun Fat.
As reported on On CC, the actress, who sat down for an interview with Taiwanese media recently, shared that she didn't have the best relationship with Chow's mother, which was the likeliest reason why their relationship didn't last.
"I was a stubborn young woman. I said anything that came to mind and that didn't sit well with his mother. Now that I am older, I realised that there are so many other ways to communicate," she said.
On the other hand, Idy has declined to comment on rumours that Chow's attempted suicide in the early '80s had something to do with their failed relationship.
She also dismissed the idea that she would make a great wife for Chow.
"I don't personally know his wife [Jasmine Tan], but I am sure that she was integral to the success of his career. I don't think his career would be at this level today if I was still with him. I don't think I would have been able to help him become an international star," she said.
