Hong Kong Film Critics Society picks "Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In" as 2024's Best Film

15 Jan - The Hong Kong Film Critics Society has recently named Soi Cheang's "Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In" as the Best Picture of 2024.

In a recent announcement made on 13 January, the organiser also revealed other winners, including Best Director for Philip Yung for "Papa", Best Screenplay for Albert Mak ("Rob N Roll"), and Best Actress for Hedwig Tam ("Montages of a Modern Motherhood").

Meanwhile, Sean Lau, who won the Best Actor for his performance in "Papa", expressed his gratitude to the audience, saying that the movie is still in theatres and that everyone should watch the film to show support.

As for Hedwig, the actress expressed, "Thank you to director Oliver Siu for boldly casting me. Without you accompanying me to find my character, I wouldn't have been able to make it this far. Thank you for choosing me."

Meanwhile, "The Last Dance", which has been honoured with various international awards, did not win any category with the critics.

As for their Recommended Movies, the Critics Society have chosen "Rob N Roll", "Obedience (The Land of Ten Directions)", "Four Trails", "The Way We Talk", "All Shall Be Well", "Love Lies", "Papa", "Winter Chants", "Alone No More" and "The Last Dance".
