SINGAPORE - There's a new burger joint arriving in town! Honbo, a popular burger brand hailing from Hong Kong, is set to open its first international outlet at CHIJMES on Friday (28 July).

Founded in 2017 by former doctor Michael Chan, Honbo draws its name from the Cantonese term for hamburger '漢堡包' (hon bou baau). The brand has won several awards over the years, including the Best Burger (Eater’s Choice) in Lifestyle Asia’s MMMs Awards 2021 and Bloomberg’s Best Burgers 2020, and more.

Honbo has garnered a loyal following and has expanded to six outlets in Hong Kong. Now, Singapore gets to savour their gourmet American-style smashed burgers!

In a press release on Tuesday, the burger joint said it delivers a unique take on preservatives-free American-style burgers and imports its own premium Double Gold beef from Wisconsin, United States of America (USA).

Honbo's beef patties are sourced from 36-month-old Holstein and Angus breed cattle that are fed with corn, with only whole chuck, brisket, and short ribs used in the making of its burger patties.

As of date, it is currently the sole craft burger chain in Hong Kong that uses all-natural, and sustainable ingredients, with six outlets in Hong Kong.

What to expect in Honbo's menu

The burger menu offers a variety of options, allowing diners to choose the number of beef patties they desire. Honbo Burger customers can opt for one, two, three or four crispy beef patties in a "Honbo BB", "Honbo", "Honbo 1.5" and "Honbo 2.0" respectively.

Other burgers on the menu include a Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger, The Gold Standard, Teriyaki Chicken Burger and meat-free Impossible Burger with a vegan-friendly house sauce.

Limited-time seafood options such as the Scallop Burger and Soft Shell Crab Burger will go on sale for a limited time during Honbo's grand opening.

Besides the mouthwatering burgers, foodies can also look forward delectable sides such as fries, sweet potato fries, chili crunch Brussels sprouts, and buffalo wings.

The Michelada is available only on weekends. Diners can also add a shot of gin or whiskey to any classic drink at a cost of $7.

Singapore-exclusive flavours for Honbo's burgers, sides and drinks will be announced at a later date.
