Although the 10th Anniversary ‘High School Musical’ reunion was announced by Disney yesterday, it looks as though its biggest star – Zac Efron – won’t be joining them.

“The stars of ‘High School Musical’ recently got back together,” explained Variety. “Well, most of them at least. In honor of the Disney Channel movie’s 10th Anniversary, stars Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman will appear together in a special telecast of the pic.”

But what about Efron?

“Zac Efron, who didn’t attend Sunday’s ‘High School Musical’ shoot in Los Angeles, will appear in the telecast in a pre-taped segment.”

Unfortunately, it looks as though Efron was unable to make the recent reunion shoot due to other commitments. After all, he’s due to appearing the upcoming ‘Bad Neighbours’ sequel as well as ‘Dirty Grandpa’.

But it’s also no secret that the 28-year-old ‘High School Musical’ star has worked pretty hard to shed his teen heartthrob image over the past few years.

Still, the rest of the ‘High School Musical’ cast were pretty excited to be back… and Ashley Tisdale couldn’t help snapping a quick pic with her fellow castmates.

“Oh the feels,” she said via Twitter. “Get ready because we’re back celebrating 10th anniversary #wildcats #hsm”

“Seeing the cast of High School Musical back together again reaffirms what made it special 10 years ago,” said President and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, Gary Marsh. “It’s their optimism, their dedication and their extraordinary talent—as a group—that made this such an exceptional movie and cultural phenomenon.”

“Ten years later, the movie continues to delight audiences around the globe, not just for its memorable song and dance numbers, but for its universal themes that continue to resonate with fans everywhere – express yourself, believe in yourself and always follow your dreams.”

The ‘High School Musical’ special heads to the Disney Channel on 20 January 2016.
