Helen Mirren Dons Shades of Purple, Diamonds and a Friendship Bracelet at Golden Globes 2024
Helen Mirren arrived to the Golden Globe Awards 2024 red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday in a multi-hued purple cape dress by Dolce & Gabbana. Styled by Rachel Fanconi, Mirren’s dress featured a ruched top and a dramatic cape with voluminous bell sleeves.
“This happens to be one of my favorite colors. It’s sort of blue-violet. I absolutely love this color. So I was delighted that they made me such a gorgeous, gorgeous dress…it’s just so effortless,” Mirren said while speaking to Jeannie Mai and Booth Moore, WWD’s West Coast executive editor, on the red carpet.

Adding a sparkle to her regal look, Mirren donned a “simple necklace” made of diamonds from Harry Winston and a last-minute accessory added to her look at the event. “It’s a friendship bracelet that was just given to me by some kids on the red carpet. And I thought it went very well with my outfit,” she said.
The accomplished actress also shared one of her red carpet tricks during the interview. “I used to go and buy my high-heeled shoes on Hollywood Boulevard in the stripper shops,” she said. “I remember they were $39,99. The reason is because you couldn’t get high platforms. And when you hit the red carpet, so many of these beautiful actresses are very tall, and I always felt like a squat, little person amongst them. So I bought myself these 10-inch heels.”
Mirren was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama for her role in “1923,” set in the universe of drama series “Yellowstone.”
Mirren has been a brand ambassador for L’Oreal since 2014. In October, Mirren walked the L’Oréal’s show during Paris Fashion Week in an off-the-shoulder Elie Saab gown covered in sequins.
The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, celebrated the biggest achievements across film and television in 2023. It is produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by WWD parent company Penske Media Corp.
