HBO Go is now available for standalone subscription.
HBO Go is now available for standalone subscription.

15 May – When it was launched in Malaysia about a year ago, HBO Go was only available for Astro customers who were subscribed to the Astro Movies Pack.

Now HBO Asia has started offering the streaming service for direction subscription, via iTunes or Google Play, at RM34.90 per month.

As stated on HBO Go Malaysia's website, new iTunes or Google Play subscribers will get to enjoy a 7-day free trial and they will only be charged after the trial is over. The monthly subscription will be charged to their iTunes or Google Play account.

Astro customers can also subscribe to HBO GO standalone via CH 200 at a lower price of RM25 per month.

However, the standalone subscription will only work with the new app available for download from App Store or Google Play Store., as the HBO GO MY app (Android - 7.0.193 / iOS - 7.0.32_1.0.192) and earlier) will no longer be supported.

This transition to the new app will not affect the user's viewing history but previous downloads will no longer be available, as downloads are not transferrable between apps or devices.

HBO Go includes instant access to Hollywood movies, all HBO and HBO Asia shows, new HBO Original series released at the same as the U.S., streaming on 2 devices at the same time, download of up to 20 pieces of content for offline viewing, multi-language subtitles, access to 6 Live TV channels (HBO, HBO Hits, HBO Family HBO Signature, Cinemax, Red by HBO), and Chromecast to the user's TV screens.
