Hael Husaini on acting debut: I thought they wanted me to do the soundtrack!

19 Oct – Hael Husaini recently revealed that the role of Haque Zuhal in his debut drama, "My Famous Ex-Boyfriend" came unexpectedly to him, as he didn't even realise he was attending a casting session.

Speaking to the media at the media conference held at IDEAS, Kuala Lumpur, the singer said that he originally thought he was given the synopsis of the drama, which is based on the Alaf21 novel, "Petrichor", so that he can write an original soundtrack for the series.

"Usually, when people send me a synopsis and ask me to attend a meeting, it would be for an OST," he said. "But as soon as I opened the door, there were cameras all around."

Hael stated that he was asked to read the script, and upon reading it loudly, was told that he is the man they are looking for.

"And that's how Haque Zuhal was born. But it was a good opportunity for me, and I am thankful to everybody involved and to [director Hadith Omar] for trusting me to be in this drama... I will try my best and please give me the opportunity to learn," he added.

Hael also thanked lead actress Qasrina Karim, saying that she helped him a lot in understanding all the terms used and all the goings-on on set.

In "My Famous Ex-Boyfriend", produced by iFabulous Art Media & Event (iFame), Hael plays the role of the famous boyfriend, Haque Zuhal, who leaves his teenage sweetheart after years of relationship during the peak of his career. The upcoming series will begin airing on Astro Ria and Astro Go on 23 October.
