Guan Xiaotong wants to show acting range in new drama

30 Nov – Chinese actress Guan Xiaotong recently revealed that her character in the new drama, "Love of Aurora" will be different from her previous roles, Phoenix reported.

The new drama, which premiered on 26 November, tells the story of an aspiring musical actress (played by Guan) and her romance with a potential heir of a media conglomerate (played by Ma Ke).

Speaking about her role in the drama, Guan said that she hopes to steer away from the image of China's "Nation's Daughter" she has built for herself through her previous projects, and show something different for a change.

"The character, Han Xingzi is an independent girl. She's positive and optimistic, and she also takes care of her mother. It's different from what I have done before," she said.

But while Guan wanted to shed her "Nation's Daughter" image through the drama, she is not yet ready to do a more daring project with more intimate scenes.

"I won't be doing that. After all, I just turned 20," she said, adding that the only reason she decided to do "Love of Aurora" was so she could prove to the audience her talent as an actor.
