'Gone Girl' trailer introduces supporting cast
Did he do it? The latest trailer for "Gone Girl," David Fincher's adaptation of Gillian Flynn's bestseller, suggest that Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) is certainly in the frame for his wife's murder.
Rosamund Pike, as Dunne's missing wife Amy, and Tyler Perry, here briefing as the suspect's attorney, are given a little more breathing space in this selection of scenes from the October release.
Kim Dickens ("Deadwood") steps in as Detective Rhonda Boney and Tony Award winner Neil Patrick Harris as a mystery man from Amy's past.
Nine Inch Nails pair and established Fincher collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross provide the trailer soundtrack, underscoring Dunne's difficulty in proving that he's not to blame for Amy's sudden disappearance.
Flynn's June 2012 novel, her third as a published author, became a critically acclaimed bestseller and, in literary circles, well known for its absense on annual award shortlists -- a distinction often felt to lie in the book's status as a crime thriller rather than a piece of literary fiction.
Nonetheless, by July 2012 the rights had been snapped up by Reese Witherspoon's production company and the wheels rolling for this year's resulting cinematic adaptation.
