GM 198 kopitiam at Punggol reopens with 24-hour roti prata & nasi lemak stalls
For Punggol residents staying near Cove LRT station in the vicinity of Punggol Field, I’m sure you’ve noticed a spanking new kopitiam that popped up recently. The GM 198 Food Centre by Broadway recently reopened on 9 Dec 2022 with 12 different food stalls under its belt.
I headed down on a lazy Sunday afternoon to checkout the place on your behalf. The coffeeshop was brightly lit and had ample indoor and outdoor seating.
Besides patronising the kopitiam for lunch or dinner, you can also head down for your supper needs— 4 out of the 12 stalls here are opened 24-hours a day. Let’s take a look at some of the stalls, shall we?
For those who love Malaysian-style bak kut teh, you’ll love Klang Bak Kut Teh which offers Claypot Braised Pig’s Trotters (S$6.50) and Klang Herbal Bak Kut Teh (S$6.80 for small). I was also surprised to discover that they offer Claypot White Pepper Bak Kut Teh (S$6.50 for small) as well— our local rendition.
Specialising in Hong Kong style herbal roasted duck, Hennessy Duck made its first debut within the food court at JEM. They’ve now opened their second outlet here which operates for 24-hours— you can now enjoy their roasted delights during the wee hours of the morning too!
I highly recommend the Dang Gui Duck Drumstick Noodle (S$7.80) and the Wanton Soup (S$4 for 6 pcs).
2 other stalls, An-Nur Shenton Way Famous and Ah Ma Chi Mian, are also opened 24-hours. Those who are familiar with the latter can get their hands on the Speciality ‘Yuan Yang‘ Noodle (S$5.90) and Signature Dried Mee Sua (S$6.90).
The former serves crowd favourites like Thosai Masala, Roti Prata, Nasi Pattaya, Roti John Special and Tulang Merah.
24-hour Old Punggol Nasi Lemak serves a variety of condiments to go with your plate of nasi lemak or bee hoon. They include scrumptious items like fried chicken wing, fish fillet, luncheon meat and much more!
Chinese-regional fans can enjoy dishes like Mala Intestine Noodle (S$6) and Pork Ribs You Po Shave Noodle (S$6.50) at Ju Hao.
The other stalls that I spotted were Tong Luck (economical rice), Backyard Signature (Western delights), Mey Yong Tau Foo, Kungfu Mala Hot Pot and Popular Food (Japanese and Korean delights).
