Gigi Leung denies involvement in plagiarism issue

30 Mar – Gigi Leung's rep has recently released a statement regarding the recent plagiarism issue befalling the music video she filmed for the song, "Stop and Breathe".

As reported on Mingpao, earlier this week, a group of performing artists and creators called Chloeography Project took to social media to accuse the MV of copying from their 2018 work, "Maybe Tomorrow", saying that they have never authorised any party to use the image concept they had.

They also shared several comparison photos to show the similarities between the music video and their previous work, including one with Gigi standing in front of a giant silver ball, and another with the said giant ball rolling in a middle of the road.

In response to the allegation, Gigi's camp stated that Gigi was invited to sing the song and shoot the MV to promote the positive message of decompression and emotional relief by feeling one's own breathing.

"In regards to the MV, Gigi did not participate in the creative part, and the follow-up processing of the MV will be handed over to the "Stop and Breathe" team, and we will do our best to cooperate if necessary," the statement added.

As of now, the music video has been taken down from YouTube and other platforms.

It is noted that the MV was directed by director Steve Yuen, who said that he is currently communicating with the team in contacting Chloeography Project about the issue.
