Genshin Impact meets bubble tea at Suntec City

Genshin Impact fans in Singapore who were also bubble tea lovers gathered at Singapore's Suntec City on 24 April as part of Paimon's Bubbly Encounter event.

Several prominent Singaporean cosplayers also made an appearance, dressed as some of the beloved characters in Genshin Impact, and took selfies and photos with people in the crowd.

The event, in collaboration with LiHO TEA in Singapore and Tealive in Malaysia, will run until 19 May.

BEIJING (Reuters) -Duty-free spending slumped 29.3% last year in China's island province of Hainan, where global luxury players from LVMH to Kering have set up shop, as a weak economy led to a sharp drop in numbers of domestic visitors. Shoppers visiting Hainan, known for its glitzy seafront hotels and sandy beaches, spent 30.94 billion yuan ($4.24 billion) on duty-free goods in 2024, customs data showed on Thursday, down from 43.76 billion in 2023. "The depreciation of foreign currencies, such as the Japanese yen, combined with attractive travel policies like visa-free entry in Malaysia, has led many Chinese consumers to seek lower prices abroad," said Kenneth Chow, principal at consultancy Oliver Wyman.

Virgin Australia crew allegedly raped, robbed in Fiji
(Reuters) -The Fiji government on Thursday said police were investigating incidents involving two crew members of Australian airline Virgin Australia who were allegedly victims of rape and theft in Nadi in the early hours of New Year's Day. The crew members were in the popular tourist destination on a layover before they were supposed to fly off the following day, Fiji Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew said in a statement. Virgin, which said it was aware of the alleged incidents, has sent people to Fiji to provide support, but did not provide further details in a statement to Reuters.
