Gao Yuanyuan's surprising perspective on aging
10 Mar - Gao Yuanyuan is not one to suffer from the anxiety of ageing, as she revealed recently that she actually enjoys getting older.
In a recent interview at the Milan Fashion Week, the 45-year-old Chinese actress said that contrary to most people, she actually had anxiety when she was much younger.
"When I was young, I didn't enjoy my youth. I spent my youth in anxiety. Gradually, for me, growing up or getting older has become a beautiful thing. Time has helped wash away all the anxieties I had when I was young," she said.
In her younger days, Gao was voted as the most beautiful star in the entertainment industry by a mainland forum. However, she admitted that she would sometimes feel disappointed when it was her looks that got the attention first before her acting skills.
"I feel okay now, just a little bit out of shape and not as physically strong," she admitted, adding that with age and increased life experience, she now feels more relaxed than before.
"Now, I feel more carefree. I'll try any role, and if it works, it works," she added.
