Food Junction Westgate opens with 23 stalls, has halal teppanyaki, Bib Gourmand nasi padang & $3 deals
The West just keeps getting better. As if the Jurong East area isn’t enough of a bustling shopping and food scene already, Food Junction has opened its 8th location at Westgate. That brings 23 new stalls to the true-blue West side of Singapore (sorry CCK folks).
To top it all off, promotions and offers are currently ongoing to celebrate the food court chain’s 30th anniversary!
The newly opened food court is situated at Basement 1 and is hard to miss with its enormous entrance fronted by a large yellow-lit signage.
When I visited on the first night, many diners were already having dinner at this 1,000-square-metre location. The crowd size didn’t seem to be an issue as the food court seats up to 400.
The first stall that caught my eye was Shanghai Fried Xiao Long Bao, placed strategically left of the enormous entrance with a glass display giving a clear view of the staff hand-making each dumpling and bao.
Can’t miss their Shanghai Fried Dumplings (S$6.50 for 8pcs) if you’re a true-blue dumpling fanatic, but Shanghai Chives Dumplings (S$7.50 for 10pcs) makes a pretty strong case for itself. If you just need some quick grub, Shanghai Siew Mai (S$4.50 for 3pcs) or Steamed Dumplings (S$4.50 for 3pcs) should be enough.
HJH Maimunah Mini might just be the star of the show. With this being their 9th outlet, is it really a surprise to learn that they (HJH Maimunah) have multiple Michelin Bib Gourmands?
Have a taste of their acclaimed Nasi Padang or opt for something lighter with options like Lontong (S$5), Mee/Mee Hoon Bakso (S$5.50) and Soto Ayam (S$5.50).
If going big is your objective, their Original Ambeng Platter (S$35) serves up to 3 pax, comprising Ayam Lemak Cili Padi, Beef Rendang, Paru Belado, Begedel, Sambal Goreng Jawa, Urap, Terung Belado, Ikan Bilis Kacang, Sambal Belacan, Serunding and rice.
As the first concept of its kind, Teppan Kaki offers halal teppanyaki at Food Junction’s new Westgate location. Treat yourself to a Sizzling Black Pepper Hotplate – Beef Tenderloin Steak (S$19.80) or Salmon Fillet with Sambal Goreng (S$16.80).
On 20 Nov, the Sliced Chicken Big Value Set will drop from its usual price of S$12.90 to just S$3 as part of Food Junction Westgate’s daily deals (15 Nov to 1 Dec).
Something every food court, kopitiam and hawker centre can’t go without is a beverage stall. At Quench!, you have their special drinks like Kopi Slush (S$2.90), Teh Gula Melaka Slush (S$2.90), and Sea Salt Fizzy Limau (S$2.60). They also offer homemade Original Barley (S$1.80/S$2.20), Butterfly Pea Barley (S$2.30/S$2.70) and Longan Drink (S$2.50/S$3).
It’s impossible to list every stall here so if you’re bored of the restaurants and eateries in the area, make sure to drop by Food Junction at Westgate to have a look for yourself.
To sweeten your meal, there will be S$3 daily deals running from 15 Nov to 1 Dec 2023, offered by a different stall each day. Do note they are on a first-come-first-served basis with up to 50 redemptions per day. Here’s the list for 17 to 23 Nov:
17 Nov – Hot Hot Pot: Mapo Beancurd
18 Nov – Qiulin Delights: Apple & Pear Pork Rib Soup
19 Nov – Chai’s Original Fish Soup: Fried Fish Head Soup
20 Nov – TEPPAN KAKI: Sliced Chicken Set Meal
21 Nov – Ah Chew Yong Tau Foo: 6 pcs Yong Tau Foo (Dry/Soup) + Rice/Noodles
