First Dibs: ARTBOX EVERYDAY – 6 days of everything art, live caricatures & FREE childcare
Need a break from the CNY frenzy? The latest edition of the iconic arts hub, ARTBOX EVERYDAY, will take over Singapore EXPO Hall 4. From 17 to 19 Jan and 24 to 26 Jan, there will be an explosion of creativity, culture, and family fun. This year promises to be bigger and better, with more than 190 creative local and international businesses with over 90 F&B stalls.
The concept of ARTBOX EVERYDAY is a representation of all the great things about Singaporean culture. So, the aesthetic along with the F&B and retail stalls will feature classic local iconography and recapture the vibrancy of our beloved bazaars.
Karaoke your hearts out at the Open Mic (courtesy of KTV Teo Heng), enjoy live performances from local and international acts like The Mad Trio and Priscilla Abby, and play classic arcade games from The Arcade People.
Above all else, ARTBOX EVERYDAY is a celebration of the creative arts scene in Singapore. This year’s edition hopes to support local artists by providing art pieces at much lower prices. It is an opportunity for locals and foreigners alike to gain an appreciation for local arts and witness the potential that our homegrown artists have.
There is also a special collaboration between Aliwal Chess Club and 32 local and regional artists. Each of them took their respective art styles and transformed these scaled-up chess pieces to create a stunning display.
Of course, there is no Artbox without food. We struggled to pick between the different delicious F&B options.
To my Muslim friends, there are Halal options for y’all from Muslim-owned businesses. I had the Signature Quesa Birria Tacos (S$12), which was tender and juicy, along with the delicious Chicken Sausage Mac and Cheese (S$14).
Other F&B dishes we got include Negitoro Pie-Tee (S$12), Mafalde (S$24), Tortolla (S$22) and Cloudy Fresh Watermelon Drink with Cotton Candy (S$7). To see everything we tried, check out TikTok.
With our tummies full, we finally checked out the different retail options. Many local businesses are selling a range of merchandise, including tote bags, charm bracelets and vintage digital cameras.
There will also be international retailers like Loma Whale and Pola from Thailand, THE SCENTIST from Hong Kong and N7 from South Korea.
Highlights of the event for me were Jelly Caricature and Sriste.
I got a vintage 60s-style caricature of myself done by the talented Jelly Artists. It was a live drawing and the artist did it in less than 10 minutes. Insane.
Then, while exploring the retail booths, I discovered Blobbie, an adorable squishy cartoon. I gushed over how cute it was and only got more excited when I realised there was a free stamp that I could collect. Simply adorable.
ARTBOX EVERYDAY will also have all-new features like:
Food trucks
Complimentary 1-hour childcare facilities, for young ones aged 3 to 8 years old
Shuttle service between EXPO and *SCAPE
*SCAPE to EXPO: S$0.50 per person
EXPO to *SCAPE: Complimentary for all ticket holders
Tickets for ARTBOX EVERYDAY are out now, starting from S$6. For more information, click here. Terms and conditions apply.
