Filmmaker Benny Chan dies at 58-years-old

24 Aug – Hong Kong filmmaker Benny Chan has recently passed away.

As reported on Mingpao, the director known for movies like "Big Bullet", "Who Am I?" and "New Police Story", died on 23 August after months of battling nasopharyngeal cancer.

Benny reportedly found out about his diagnosis last year while filming the Nicholas Tse and Donnie Yen-starrer, "Raging Fire", and immediately went for treatment at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin following production. He was later transferred to the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, where he passed away.

The director is survived by his wife and two children.

Nicholas, who was among the last actors to have worked with Benny, expressed, "He is my mentor. Whether in acting or in personal life, he deeply affected me. I will always miss you, Director Benny."

He was 58.
